Post 290: Meet PWAS Members

Meet PWAS Members

The Prince William Art Society (PWAS) is a non-profit 50+ year old art group based in Prince William County, Virginia, about 25 miles south of Washington DC. The group is made up of artists, art enthusiasts, and art dabblers. We have photographers and graphic designers, former art teachers, digital artists and art beginners. I'm pretty sure we cover about any medium and mix imaginable.

Meet some of the Artists of PWAS

PWAS is a large art group and you will often find many of them volunteering their time at the Open Space Art gallery in Stonebridge -  15000 #140 Potomac Town Center, Woodbridge, VA. The art group also meets monthly on the 4th Monday of the month at 7:30pm (or via Zoom) at the Tall Oaks Community Center, 12298 Cotton Mill Drive, Woodbridge, VA and the public is welcome to attend.

I recently sent out a request to the PWAS members to introduce themselves...Let's meet the responders*...

Evelyn Chatters

Evelyn Chatters is relatively new to the world of art. She is currently working with acrylic pour and enjoying experimentation and self-expression through that medium.

Evelyn is the PWAS Secretary (2023)

Kerry Molina

Kerry Molina is a mixed-media artist whose work explores the magic of many layers.  Her acrylic and collage pieces often employ vintage papers, book text, old maps, transparent media and various other creative elements. https://www.kerrymolina.com/#/

Luis Munoz

Sandra McClelland Lewin

Sandra works primarily in acrylics and her subject matter is inspired by nature. She is a past President of PWAS and of Visual Expressions and has served on the Board of the Prince William County Arts Council. https://SLMLart.com

Staci Blanchard

Staci enjoys expressing herself through pour art and abstract art.

Staci is the PWAS Vice President (2021-2023)

John Hartt (Jortt)

John Hartt’s whimsical art can be described as strange and wonderful. Although he loves to work big, like murals, art for elementary school playgrounds and outdoor installations, he always finds time to knock out paintings on canvas in his studio. https://linktr.ee/Jortt

Fatima Farzana (Sumi)

When I finish an artwork, I feel like I need to start the next one. Every piece of my artwork is an emotion to me. https://www.Sumisart.com

Elena Jochum

"Can you create that?" - The answer is "yes". Elena Jochum is a 3rd generation artist specializing in realistic watercolor paintings and large abstract oil and acrylic canvas paintings. https://www.elenajochum.com/

Zorri Berrios (Zee)

His art is a representation of his passion for color and social historical characters and issues. In his art, he reflects his concern for music, social issues as well as his Christian Faith. https://www.facebook.com/ARTEDEZORRI/

Brenda Vann

I am a multimedia artist, working on a flat table and because I’m ambidextrous, I paint details with my right hand but cut stencils with my left hand.  I don’t feel balanced and productive unless I’m using both hands.

Donna Liguria

Donna is a self-taught acrylic painter and blog writer, specializing in photorealism. Her subjects are pet portraits and animals, seascapes, landscapes, historical places and more and she enjoys meeting visitors at the Open Space Arts gallery. https://donnaliguriaart.com

Bettie Sperty

Bettie Sperty is a local artist who enjoys working with a variety of mediums, including acrylic and oil painting, drawing, pottery work, fiber work, etc. Her painting style runs from fun, colorful and whimsical to the fine detail of Tromp L’oeil.

*If you are a new PWAS member and want to be included with the PWAS Member introductions, please send me an email with your photo, 2 samples of your work and up to 2 sentences on what you do. One URL can be included.
