Paint, Talk and Support

Elizabeth Stathis, our new Prince William Art Society President, will be teaching an art class at Daral Noor Mosque, 5404 Hoadly Road, Manassas, VA on Sunday, February 18 from 2-4pm.

From PWAS President, Elizabeth Stathis

February 18th I will be teaching the very first class at the Daral Noor Mosque which is part of the Muslim Association of Virginia (MAV) in Manassas. They are located at 5404 Hoadly Road, Manassas, VA.

The hours are from 2-4 pm. The MAV provides the room, supplies, and helpers. They are expecting THIRTY people from the ages of 14 up to adult. Numerous counselors will be in the room as well to be available to speak with the students as they relax and create art.

*Classes - all ages*Diversity*Healthcare artI plan to begin with a basic blind contour drawing of a simple still life with pencil and paper. Next, I show light direction, and where are the shadows then? What are the shapes of these two things? Then they take what they learned from drawing from real life and draw it on a canvas board. I then show them how to paint in the highlights and shadows. Color comes next if they are ready.

I will be taking a tour of their facility on February,13th, a Tuesday at 1:30 pm. If anyone (PWAS member) would like to join me please do!

This class fits all of our criteria needing to be met for our Grant money requirements and for the next report. This was already included in the February report as an up and coming activity for this next phase.

Post 264: Tony Muller's Workshop

Tony Muller's Workshop

Last Saturday, November 12, 2022, Tony Muller had a workshop on "Augmented Reality and the application to art world". Here is how he described the workshop and his presentation notes along with some pictures from the day.

Tony: We first discussed the history of AR, what it is, and what it's not. Then a quick overview of how it's being used on every day life.

Then we explored the historical use of AR in various art forms - dance, theatre, and finally static gallery pieces.

The last bit of the workshop provided 3 examples of AR-enhanced artworks using the app Artivive.

I think we had about 25 attendees throughout the day and over 100 viewings on the Artivive app.
