Post 579: Annaburg Manor Art Show Oct 24-26, 2025

Autumn at Annaburg Art Exhibit Oct 24-26, 2025

The Autumn at Annaburg Art Exhibit opens on Friday, October 25 with an art reception at 9201 Maple Street, Manassas, Virginia. This is the third art show at the historic Annaburg Manor, and all are invited to come and see the art! And what a show it will be - I just dropped off my artwork this morning (Tues, Oct 21) and saw what has already been brought in. Amazing is not enough of a word, I tell you!

Autumn at Annaburg Manor Art Exhibit, Manassas, Virginia

I recognized a lot of the artists and their artworks, and a good many Prince William Art Society (PWAS) members that are in this show, as well as local artist friends.

The Historic Annaburg Manor is Being Rehabilitated...

Let's see which PWAS members are showing at the Annaburg Manor...you can always click on an image to make it larger.

PWAS Member Donna Liguria

Donna's painting "Streams Never Stay the Same" was selected to show at Annaburg Manor this weekend. The painting is in acrylics on an 11x14 gallery-wrapped canvas, featuring a stream running through a wooded area. The banks are filled with flowers and grasses and in the distance, a bridge is over the stream. Painting this artwork reminded the artist of growing up in Alexandria with a stream behind her home where every day, the stream was different in so many ways - how it looked, what little kids could find in it, how it flowed. Donna says, "As kids, we were in that stream or crossing that stream every day in summer. We caught crawdads, sometimes minnows, made dams, sailed small boats, and played games."

PWAS Member Scott Elliot

Here is Scott's acrylic art piece, "Senescence" by Scott Elliott. acrylic. 24 x 36 - I loved seeing this in person!

PWAS Member Sandra McClelland Lewin

Sandra brings an artwork I don't remember seeing before! Can she get a Wow!

"Blue Hole" 24x30 oil on stretched cotton canvas, framed.
This picture evolved from a photo I took of Quantico Creek in Prince William Forest Park. "Blue Hole" refers to fishing slang for a deep creek pool.

PWAS Member Tes Sain

“Living in Italy was a life-enriching experience that allowed me to deeply connect with the culture and appreciate its rich history leaving a lasting impact in my perspective.  I was particularly inspired by the rustic charm of the old houses, which sparked a creative vision that ultimately led to the creation of this painting,  “Vecchio Porta Di Casa”

Oil Painting, 14x18 Stretched Canvas

OK, I think there are a few more members but I didn't hear from them and I'll have to kick off the Wow's in the Comments!

And More PWAS

And Dear Reader, here's a reminder that the PWAS Fall Tall Oaks Art Show is Saturday, November 1 from 10-5pm at 12298 Cotton Mill Road, Woodbridge, VA.

Post 556: PWAS at the Manassas Park Community Day

PWAS at the Manassas Park Community Day

Saturday, April 19, 2025 from 10-2 the Prince William Art Society (PWAS) will be in Manassas Park for their Community Day. Located at 100 Park Central Plaza, Manassas Park, Virginia, artists from the art group will feature a variety of art in a lot of sizes and styles for viewing and for purchase.

The PWAS art group will have our art equipment - tent up, gridwalls up, and their artwork up, so come by and say hi! We'd love to tell you more about our group.

The Prince William Art Society

Also known as PWAS, this nonprofit art organization was established in 1971. The art group has a long history of being in and around Prince William County, promoting the arts and our members all around the communities in the county and beyond.

About PWAS - a History

PWAS meets once a month on the 4th Monday of the month at the Tall Oaks Community Center at 12298 Cotton Mill Road, Woodbridge, VA at 7:30pm. Check the PWAS website for the most recent happenings at https://www.princewilliamartsociety.com/ and our PWAS Artistry Spin at https://artistryspin.blogspot.com/ for about everything! Our blog has art news, photos, artworks, highlights, features, occasionally opinion, and about anything art. We like saying, "you miss a meeting and you miss a lot". Followed by, "if its about PWAS, its in the blog".

The art group looks forward to visiting the Manassas Park Community Day on April 19 and showing our art to you. And the Prince William Art Society will be back in Manassas at the ARTfactory for an art show beginning on May 15 and running until May 30 AND again for the Best of the Region Fine Art Show and Sale June 3-15. Come by and see us for all of shows.

And take note that some PWAS members will also be attending the Annaburg Manor art show April 25-27, 2025 too!

UPDATE: Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025

We had a cloudy day. We had a breezy day. We had a sunny day. We had terror wind gusts bust through the tent and send prints and objects flying. Luckily, we didn't lose any artwork. Think about it, canvases are quite literally sails, so gusts of wind are not friendly with art shows. When it came time that we were each holding a tent leg, it was time to pack it up!

Nonetheless, we had a pleasant day with our art friends and our community day celebrants.

Post 528: Art Show at Three Fox Vineyard

PWAS Art Show at Three Fox Vineyard

The Prince William Art Society (PWAS) art group is having an art show at the Three Fox Vineyard and Brewery at 10100 Three Fox Lane, Delaplane, VA. Fourteen artist members have their artwork for display and for sale at the Vineyard from Dec 16, 2024 to March 9, 2025.

Three Fox Vineyard and Brewery

A very nice drive from Woodbridge, which will take about an hour or less, the Vineyard is in Delaplane. Several of the PWAS artists have shown art at the biannual Art at the Mill show in Millwood, VA and have driven right past Three Fox to get to Art at the Mill. One of our members stopped in at the winery and discovered what a marvelous place to enjoy a glass of a favorite beverage AND that there is space to display art!

Three Fox Vineyard is currently hosting the Prince William Art Society's art up on their walls for all their visitors to enjoy. And as you can see from these photos below, taken by Bettie Sperty, what a beautiful winery and brewery it is.

Click on the Three Fox Vineyard and Brewery logo to learn more

The scenery around Three Fox is a delight, so wandering the grounds at any time of year (especially with a favorite beverage) is only a part of being there. The artwork is upstairs at the winery, so while you are visiting, be sure and go up, to enjoy the entire experience!

There is more artwork around the corner, so don't miss those!

Congratulations Bettie Sperty!

We need to congratulate PWAS member, Bettie Sperty - one of her art pieces SOLD at Three Fox Vineyard! In the photo above, you can see hers at the end of the row. Here is a little something that Bettie wanted to share about her artwork:

Bettie's artwork (shown below) is 30”x30” and has a silver leaf background and acrylic over that and is her own original concept and design.

She shares that, "I’ve enjoyed painting bees in different scenarios for some time.

I don’t paint thinking “what will someone buy?” or “what will someone else like?”   I paint what makes me happy or inspires me. And it’s always a thrill when someone likes something I’ve created. I was very surprised and excited when I heard this had sold."

A trip out to Three Fox Vineyard should be on your radar! Grab a couple of friends and go visit the winery and all of the views!

Let's take a look at the artwork that is now up at Bull Run. Photos by Bettie Sperty.

Why Buy Local Original Art?

Sure, anyone can go to one of the local generic home stores and buy a print of artwork for $50 bucks or so. Grab a nail and hammer and up it goes on your walls to decorate your home. But is there really any connection to that piece that you will be looking at day in and day out?

Whereas, collecting original art to decorate your personal spaces that is created by a local artist can be much more inspirational, appealing, a better statement of your personal tastes, and make a much more impressive display. Especially when you can meet and get to know that local artist and learn about what inspired them to create it. You learn their story. You learn about that artwork and what they put into it. Then in turn, you have a story to tell about that artwork that you purchased from that artist and why it touched you. You are more connected to the art piece that you now own. It has meaning.

And absolutely, you are supporting the art local community, the local artists. You can find artwork locally that may be affordable; their prices may be more than the generic art prints, yet will have more artistic value. Perhaps even be an art investment. Read this if you need more convincing: 7 Reasons Why You Should Buy From Local Artists by Bryan Mullennix

And very often, if you see art or an art style you like by a local artist, you are able to contact them to create something personalized, customized that is exactly what you want in the colors you want. Or a painting of your pet, or of your home or garden. Wouldn't art like that have much more meaning for you or a gift you give to someone you care about? Contact the PWAS Online Store

The Prince William Art Society offers an online store - where it is safe to purchase artwork. Once artwork is purchased, the artist is notified and will work with and meet the Buyer for art pickup. The library itself does NOT handle the sale nor the artwork; the sale must take place via the PWAS Online Store.

The artist could then replace the artwork at the library with another piece of similar size.

Browse the PWAS Art Store and filter the results to the Bull Run Library to see the artworks on display there.

Comments? Drop them below this post!

And Thank you Bettie for setting up this show! I'll also add Thank you to Sandra M. Lewin for setting up the Montclair Show and Staci Blanchard for setting up the Popup shows. Well done!
