Post 73: How Far Has Your Art Traveled?

How Far Has Your Art Traveled?

I haven't sold any artwork internationally as yet, have you? The farthest I have shipped a painting is to West Valley City, Utah and to Dallas, Texas thus far.

Once some of your artwork sells, you may never see it again - in person, of course. I heard a few artists talking recently about artwork they have shipped and I agree with them, I ask for a picture from the new owner of the piece with the artwork or where the artwork is hung. And sometimes the buyer will send me a photo, too. It is wonderful to see someone enjoying what you created - and where it now lives.

Even when your artwork has sold at a gallery or art show, it could still travel far, far away...

A small pause for a few minutes...(I'm dwelling on the artwork that has moved on.)

That also lends to making sure your artwork is signed so that it is obvious who created it so that wherever that artwork is, when someone asks about where it came from or who did it, they will see. If someone Google's your name, will they be able to find out more about the artist that created the work or maybe they want you to paint something for them too?

And make sure you have some great photos of ALL of your artwork - you may still be able to make money off the original if you have great pictures so you can have prints made.

Here are a few art pieces that I have shipped:

"Just Look Up" is on its way to Utah

"Lovely Lavender" is in Pennington, New Jersey

"A Seashore Day" is in Dallas, Texas

"Giraffe Skin Pattern" is in Virginia Beach, Virginia

"African Violets in a Terracotta Pot" is in Churchville, Virginia

How far has your artwork traveled so far? Do you have an interesting story about shipping your artwork or where your artwork is now to share?

By the way, if you are an owner of my artwork, THANK YOU!! I (would) LOVE to see you with the artwork, or where you have it hung!
