Post 238: What's On Your Easel Right Now?

What's On Your Easel Right Now?

I do love seeing (and showing) what artists are working on in studio. Whether its on my easel or for one of my fellow PWAS member's easels - as artists, we just can't help ourselves. We are happy to "show it off" (most of us at least!) So, to help show off what the artist members are currently conquering in their art spaces, here is a peek before it hits the regular air waves.

I suppose I outgrew my mom's refrigerator a long, long time ago...Looks like some folks art outgrew the refrigerator too.

Let's See Who is Working on the What

Zee Berrios

This is what is on the easel right now.. it is 4’ X 3’, acrylic on canvas

Donna Liguria

What's on my easel right now? A couple of projects besides LOTS of new mini paintings.

Ben's Chili Bowl in Washington DC, acrylic 16x20 in progress

The Corniche of Monaco Inspired by Claude Monet, acrylic  8x10 in progress

https://donnaliguriaart.com @DonnaLiguria https://donnascavepainting.blogspot.com/

I'm glad these minis are easy to store, they are EVERYWHERE! AND I have a couple of pieces started for Paint Manassas with pARTners.

Linda S. Nedilsky

I always enjoyed Albrecht Dürer,'s drawings,  so I decided to go back to my younger days when I drew more than I painted. Lately, I have been doing about 50% of both.

I had not used toned paper in over 40 years, and thought I would give it a shot again with the subject being a white horse I met a few weeks back. He was a "pistol" of a personality and what better way to show his feisty attitude, toned paper with graphite and white pastel pencil. I am thinking I will do a few more of these in the near future.

Title? "White horse" I don't really title most of my work, but since you asked..

CJ Davis

Since it is domestic violence awareness month, I am doing a series about the feelings of being in that situation. It is acrylic on canvas, both are 30”x40”. I am going to add an acrylic gloss finish to the first one, and the second one is in progress. It is a subject very important to me, and I believe that making art about it helps people to know they are not alone in healing or trying to get out.

Katherine Owens

In response to the post by CJ Davis post here is a portrait of a domestic violence abuser, a subject also important to me.  Just off the easel.

The title is John: A Fractured Soul.

He tried to fracture the souls of those around him, sometimes with success sometimes not when he encountered a more resilient soul.

Bruce Fasick

Just started “Dupa” - Part of my upcoming Duets show … a mix of mediums and a common subject. (ie watercolor and a sculpture)

 John Hartt

Shannon Seaberg

Commission piece for someone who recently lost a close family member. She wanted something that empowered her everyday to be strong for the rest of her family and of course herself. This piece is so special and so is the other one I am working on which is her daughter!! Art can be such an impactful way to brighten peoples lives and give them endless joy every time they look at it. Giving others a piece from the heart is beyond rewarding!!!

Post 235: Call for Art END Oct 14 and Petoberfest Sat Oct 15

Call for Art END Oct 14 and Petoberfest Sat Oct 15

The Open Space Arts Gallery has a Call for Art out for our Prince William County art show scheduled for November called "Harvest of Artists". The call opened October 1 and will end on October 14, this Friday at 11:59pm. So, as you may already know, artists must be 18 or older. The artist should LIVE in PWC OR be a member of a local PWC art group...such as the Prince William Art Society, the Manassas Art Guild, a Woodbridge photography group, etc.

IF you have received the email for the Call for Art (C4A!) - SUBMIT IT!! As they say, you have to play to win, or in this case, you have to enter to be seen.

IF you have NOT received the email for the C4A, please contact Penny Shaw at shawonesent@gmail.com and GET the email to submit your artwork ASAP! Contact Penny if you have questions about the form as well.

All artwork is juried. If you want to learn more about art jurying, please do a search on this blog or elsewhere - there is a lot of information available. As we say, there is only so much wall space, so artwork must be selected to appear. There is NO entry fee. PWAS takes a very small fee if artwork sells, otherwise it is a great opportunity to be seen. Also, see the "Where to get on our OSA Call for art" section below. https://www.princewilliamartsociety.com/osafaqs

Petoberfest is Saturday, October 15, 2022

Petoberfest is this weekend at Stonebridge, and in front of the Open Space Arts Gallery, the Prince William Art Society will be setting up tents to display their pet/animal art for you to see. We have artists that are available for commissioned artwork because we know and LOVE to paint your pets. Wait, not paint your pet, but paint a painting of your pet(s).

This should be a fun street festival with so many things about, for and celebrating your furry loved ones, so come out and see us in front of the gallery and stroll the street - with your Fidos, Fluffys, and Goldies. (Well, maybe leave the Goldfish at home.)

Post 232: These are a Few of My (PWAS Member) Favorite Things

These are a Few of My (PWAS Member) Favorite Things

Sing along with me now, "These are a few of my favorite things..." Can't sing like Julie Andrews?

A few PWAS members noted some favorite things with art...

Fatima Farzana

Abstract painting is my favorite way to express imagination and emotion. For me, painting is a soul-searching journey!

Linda Nedilsky

I enjoy drawing or painting many subjects, but my favorite subjects are pet portraits. Many of my commission pieces are done in memory of a lost pet. I have had many dogs in my life and losing them is like losing a very close friend or family member. Providing a portrait for the owner is a way of giving them something they can remember their pets for years to come. In addition I have donated a gift certificate  for a pet portrait to support various animal rescue programs around the country.

CJ Davis

I am CJ Davis, a Mexican American artist working out of the PWC area.

My favorite things to paint are portraits and medical items. I like to explore these themes because of my chronic pain and struggle with mental illness. I believe it is important to speak about it, and empower those with disabilities. My portraiture reflects people in my life who are important to me, especially in my family. I am Mexican, and our culture deeply believes in revering family and ancestors. I paint my abuela (grandmother), as she is the matriarch of our family, and an inspiration to me. cjdavisart.com

Donna Liguria

Some may say I like painting mini paintings and I do paint a lot of them. Last year I bought a case of 100 3x4 mini canvases and soon after purchased another case. They do sell well usually and I include the mini easels. It is actually fun coming up with the variety of images and ideas to paint and occasionally I am surprised when certain ones sell! They can range in price from $25 to 28 each depending on how much work goes into them.
