The Artwork of John Hartt, a PWAS Member

John Hartt, the artist known as Jortt, leans toward a bright, colorful palette with his subject matter ranging from whimsical to “just plain weird”. His goal is simple, “I want my art to make people smile”.

His permanent collection is hanging at the Man Cave  in Historic Manassas, Virginia.

Post 95: Artist Hibernation?

Artist Hibernation?

With Clearbrook Center of the Arts closed for the month of January, the artist members of the Prince William Art Society may be in "artist hibernation" mode...or are they?

Baby, It's COVID Outside

As we all know, due to all the continuing health issue worries, here in Prince William County, Virginia, the decision was made to close the art gallery at Clearbrook Center of the Arts at Tackett's Mill in Lake Ridge. And we have started the year with a LOT of snow and cold. So, what are the PWAS artists doing at this time? Snuggling up and toasting their toes near the gas logs or getting in the art studio and slapping some paint onto canvas?

Hibernation is defined by Dictionary.com as "An inactive state resembling deep sleep in which certain animals living in cold climates pass the winter. In hibernation, the body temperature is lowered and breathing and heart rates slow down. Hibernation protects the animal from cold and reduces the need for food during the season when food is scarce."

Artist Hibernation is laying low over the down time and not being creative (food). Maybe they are "taking a break" or something else. Maybe their 'creative juices' need a kick start or they might take the time to get the tax info together. (Insert scream here.)

I am wondering how other artists are using this time. I tend to think more artists are taking advantage of the cold and COVID closing and painting new artwork! Maybe the next Mona Lisa is on someone's easel or John will paint that Ice Cream Cone with the eyes actually screaming this time (Eyes Cream).

I'm painting! I have actually painted 3 so far. "Mysteries of the Deep" and 2 small goldfish. How are you spending your January?

...By the way, there is no PWAS Meeting in January either. The next meeting will be on Monday, February 28, 2022.

Post 94: Clearbrook Will Remain Closed for the Month of January

Clearbrook Will Remain Closed for the Month of January

Sunday, January 2, 2022: This just in from the PTB (Powers That Be) for the Prince William Art Society (PWAS):

Due to the current health concerns and the increased transmissibility of the Omicron variant of Covid-19, Clearbrook will remain closed throughout January. As such, we will be postponing the change over of art until later in the month. An email will be sent out nearer to February with the details on the change over and scheduling for February.

😞 This is my sad face...

Post 93: Clearbrook Closed Jan 1 and 2, 2022, Art Changeover

Clearbrook Closed Jan 1 and 2, 2022, Upcoming Art Changeover

Clearbrook is closed again this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, January 1 and 2 for the holiday, but all of the Prince William Art Society artists are hustling and bustling-busy with the end of the year family-holidays, business, and art duties that need to be done for the next January/February 2022 Changeover.

I was on a mission for myself to finish painting the mini paintings I had. Earlier in the year I purchased a box of 100 3x4 mini stretched canvases, and I finished the last one just this morning. Whew! Just made it. (Wouldn't you know, I purchased another case of 100 recently, so that is staring at me for 2022.)

PWAS Members - Art Changeover at Clearbrook

The new theme is Black and White with a pop of color. PWAS Member Artists are encouraged to bring in their art for the new theme or whatever they want to display by Monday, Jan 3, 2022 - before 3pm. Art taken down will be ready for pickup Monday and/or Tuesday evening, Jan 3 and 4.

The new theme should be really interesting, I am really looking forward to seeing what people have come up with for this one.

So remember the 2 labels on the artwork and update your inventory lists so we will be ready for when we have Clearbrook open again on January 8 and 9, 2022 with all the NEW ART!

And a Happy New Year!

I wish you all a very Happy New Year - to my Prince William Art Society friends and all of you visiting and loving the art that we create. May your year be filled with much love, many blessings, and lots of new creating! Have an ARTASTIC NEW YEAR!

Come by and see us!
