The Art Show at Tall Oaks

The Prince William Art Society (PWAS) hosts an annual Spring and Fall Art Show at the Tall Oaks Community Center found at 12298 Cotton Mill Drive in Woodbridge, VA and this past Saturday, May 11, 2024 was the first one of the season. Most of the day was bright and sunny, albeit a bit chilly in the shade. A great day to see some art!

We had a great turn out for the show with many people stopping in to enjoy the artwork. And we also had some PWAS members stopping in to see the show too! As a team, we had a great time getting together and doing all the things that get an art show setup and run. A lot of laughs, oooo's and awww's as we appreciated each others art and celebrated each piece of art that visitors purchased to give a new home to. Plenty of folks picked up PWAS brochures so hopefully some new faces join the group in future too, we hope.

PWC Art Show in Lakeridge Sat, May 11, 2024 from PWAS

PWAS stands for the Prince William Art Society which is an art group in Prince William County that started in 1971. We have a LOT of members and some of them will be showing what they do at this weekend's Tall Oaks Spring Art Show in Lakeridge on Saturday. You are cordially invited to come see the show! One thing most artists love, is SHOW what they do! And if you want to meet and greet the artists of PWAS at this show, come on by Saturday, May 11, 2024 from 11am to 5pm. The artists love answering your questions about their art. The show is free to see, but if you happen to see something that would make a GREAT gift for your Mom (hey, Mother's Day is Sunday, May 12th!), or for your own home, we have the artwork for sale too.

The Tall Oaks Community Center is located at 12298 Cotton Mill Drive, Woodbridge, VA - right here in the Lakeridge section of Woodbridge. If you are on Old Bridge Road and know where the Giant is on Hedges Run, go past the Giant and the next intersection is the corner of Cotton Mill Road and Hedges Run. You'll see Tall Oaks right on that corner. The parking lot is a right turn and then a left where the playground is.

Spring Tall Oaks Art Show in Lakeridge

Coming up very soon is the Prince William Art Society's annual Spring Tall Oaks Art Show at the Tall Oaks Community Center here in beautiful Lakeridge. The date is Saturday, May 11, 2024 and the art show will run from 11am to 5pm. The show is rain or shine as we have all the artwork inside the building and we'll have a variety of art styles and mediums by various PWAS artists - all local artists!

Fall Tall Oaks PWAS Art Show Sat, Oct 7, 2023

The Prince William Art Society (PWAS) has a handful or art shows throughout the year that are held in various locations in Prince William County, with the Tall Oaks Community Center hosting 2 of them each year. The art group also has their monthly meetings in the same location on the fourth Monday of the month, at 7:30pm. 12298 Cotton Mill Drive, Woodbridge, Virginia.

A Local Art Show in Lake Ridge

I don't know how many years the Prince William Art Society has had their Spring and their Fall Tall Oaks Art Shows at the Tall Oaks Community Center on Cotton Mill Road in Woodbridge. I wonder if anyone in the group knows? I was thinking it might be nice to say the "Tenth Annual" or the "Sixth Annual" Fall Tall Oaks Art Show was just held this past Saturday.... But I don't know the number.

Yet, we did have it, on Saturday, October 7, 2023. It started off with rain (as it has often done), then in the afternoon, POW! Big ole' sunshine and a beautiful fall day!

We had a good turn out and one of the ladies that stopped in said, "I come every year." I wondered how many years that was as I've only been a PWAS member since 2021. I took part in the Spring (usually held on the first Saturday in May...hey, like the Kentucky Derby!) and the Fall Tall Oaks Shows since then.

I've often found that participating in the PWAS art shows are great ways to really make good friends within the art community and learn more about what they do. And getting to talk to all the visitors is fun too - as well as showing them our art on display, which helps them to get to know YOU, as the artist.

A group art show also makes the work go faster as everyone pitches in to help set it up AND take it down. Funny how much quicker it always comes down.

We invite you to come by and enjoy the art - and maybe start some early Christmas shopping for a -one of a kind- original artwork. Spring Tall Oaks Art Show by the Prince William Art Society

There are certain art shows that the Prince William Art Society (PWAS) faithfully hold every year, and in this case, twice a year. The annual Spring Tall Oaks Show was this past Saturday, May 6, 2023 at the Tall Oaks Community Center on the corner of Hedges Run and Cotton Mill Drive in Woodbridge, Virginia. And the weather was beautiful for this show!

Local Artists Right in Your Neighborhood

PWAS is an art group that's been in Prince William County for 52 years, did you know that? There is a lot of wonderful talent in the group with very diverse styles. We had about 10 members at this Spring art show. And we will be back in the fall, around the beginning of October - so keep a look out for us. We love talking with our visitors!

Rain or Shine Fall Tall Oaks Art Show by PWAS

While Hurricane Ian wanders over Virginia tossing rain across the area after unfortunately wreaking havoc and lives across Florida, South Carolina, and North Carolina, the PWAS artists set up an art show at the Tall Oaks Community Center. Life goes on in Virginia although our thoughts are on friends and family in the affected areas. The Spring Tall Oaks Show was rainy this year too - but its always quite comfortable inside and the art was awesome.

This picture was definitely not Saturday, October 1, 2022 as it shows the early morning of a Tall Oaks Show in 2021, our day yesterday was much more grey. Yet we did have a fun day with visitors and hanging out with our fellow PWAS members, 7 in all. 

 Some brave souls dodged the rain drops and made it to the art show. Giant is nearby and they saw the Art Show signs, or they saw it online or they even knew we would be there because they saw us at the Occoquan Arts and Crafts show last weekend.

Tom brought some tunes and we rather enjoyed the day. The good thing about any down time is getting to know your fellow members better and how they do various art challenges or discussion topics like the ongoing topic of "AI Art" (Artificial Intelligence). And then, a certain bit of music comes up...
