  1. I think we ALL have artwork that the sun does NOT shine on, so to speak. Whether its stuck in the back of the closet or is destined to be painted over, we have some artwork WE don't feel is our best. One artist friend said one time that although a fellow artist did not particularly care for a piece, a visitor to the gallery wanted a print badly. Interesting thought - if the artist did not want that piece "out there", we could understand the reluctance in not printing the piece. Yet, as the saying goes "one person's junk is another person's treasure" (although that's an awful way to put it) sorta works in this instance. I just could not waste the canvas - I'd paint over it. But there could be a photographic record of it and/or a print. It is still in your body of work. Great PWAS Comic, Otis!

  2. Oh, yes! And my sister is an artist as well. We talked about this. She can reuse her canvases but for some reason, I just can't. I keep thinking of the horrible art that is underneath. So, I usually donate my used canvases to art friends that can't afford to buy new canvases, or to anyone who wants them.
I know, some my think that is weird, but I am a little OCD, so that maybe why I have never been able to reuse a canvas I had painted already.
