Post 86: Prince William Art Society and Arts Council at Stonebridge Show Success

Prince William Art Society and Arts Council at Stonebridge Show Success

Today was the final day of the first Open Space Art Show at Stonebridge. This show came down at 6pm tonight, but in my humble opinion, it was a great success - not only for the PWAS members and the Prince William County Arts Council (PWCAC), but the Woodbridge community at large.

Open Space Art at Stonebridge

Originally scheduled for only three days - November 26-28, 2021 which is Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and what is quickly becoming known as Artists Sunday, the artists of the Prince William Art Society were asked to extend the art show through December 12th and we jumped on the opportunity. We volunteer our time to "man" the space, we were open on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 12 to 6pm. until this evening. In talking to all of the artists, and working with them for the three weeks that Stonebridge was open - we all enjoyed it thoroughly. For several reasons...

1. The space was AWESOME to display our artwork. All of the pieces looked beautiful hanging in the space.

2. The people that came in to see us. We spoke to so many people that had NO idea about the art scene in Woodbridge and they were ALL very excited to learn more. Some were artists themselves. Some had family members in the various arts. So many were so surprised to see an art show at Stonebridge! Many had no idea that there was a gallery at Clearbrook, let alone that PWAS members have art there every weekend! They LOVED that it was LOCAL artists and some visitors were able to take some art home with them too!

3. The people enjoyed voting for their favorite art pieces. They were completely absorbed by the art as they walked around the gallery, some discussing the art with friends and family as they strolled.

4. The potential of more to come excited not only the artists, but all the visitors as well. They wanted to learn more!

More to Come in January?

We are hearing that something new will happen in the space in January and we at PWAS are hoping to be a part of the next art show. Hopefully, I will have more on that as soon as we know some details.

Open Space Art is located near Wegmans, next to Ulta and across from DSW. Sponsored by JBG Smith and the Prince William County Arts Council, Open Space Art was a "popup" art exhibit of local artists here in Prince William County displaying outstanding, jury selected paintings and artworks in quite a variety of mediums, styles and subjects. at Stonebridge - Potomac Town Center in Woodbridge, Virginia.

    1. Agreed, Otis, this was a terrific opportunity for not only us as artists, but for everyone living in and around PWC or shopping there at Stonebridge. I do believe they were very excited to see us there. Herb Williams - what can you say - he did a GREAT job getting this going.
