The Prince William Art Society is returning to the Winery at Sunshine Ridge Farm at 15850 Sunshine Rdg Ln, Gainesville, VA 20155 for another art show! Nineteen PWAS members were juried in to display their art from Monday, March 18 through May 26, 2024.

The Prince William Art Society has been to the Winery before, twice in 2021. The art group celebrated their 50 year Anniversary in June of that year with an art reception/party and 2 art shows. But upstairs there is a special room for events, weddings, receptions, and more. That is where the PWAS art will be. The event room will feature all types of art from the PWAS list of artists below. So, do plan your trip accordingly, some events upstairs are private, making calling ahead a good call, especially if the MUST-SEE ART is a main reason to go there!

Prince William Art Society will be at the Artist Inventory Sale in Manassas Saturday, April 6, 2024

The Prince William Art Society will be represented at this Spring's Artist Inventory Sale at the Harris Pavilion in Manassas on Saturday, April 6 between 1 and 5pm. A variety of the PWAS artist members will have a variety of art so come by and see us!

Artist Inventory Sale at the Harris Pavilion

Located near the Manassas Train Station and the water tower, the Harris Pavilion is a great place to come to on a early April spring day and enjoy the art on display, strolling through the art walls. Such a variety of mediums, styles and subjects to see! The ART DAY at the Harris pavilion is set for Saturday, April 6 from 1 to 5pm. From original art paintings to fine art prints, you are sure to find something perfect for your home - or for a friend. The pavilion is located at 9201 Center Street, Manassas, VA 20110 and there is also a Fall Artist Inventory Sale as well.

The rain date is Sunday, April 7.

Prince William Art Society

PWAS is the name we call our nonprofit art group which started in 1971, making PWAS the longest running group in Prince William County, and also the largest - with a large, healthy artist membership. The group displays the artwork of its artists all around the county and beyond, in various art shows, exhibits, galleries, and festivals. 

They are also known for their annual art scholarship program, named after our original founding member, Jewell Pratt Burns. The scholarship is given to a graduating high school senior that is moving on to an education in the arts.

PWAS Got-Art at GoWell Stonebridge

The Prince William Art Society (PWAS) has some new art at the GoWell Stonebridge Urgent Care right across from Wegmans. If you happen to need to go to GoWell, we hope to perhaps put a smile on your face as you visit their locations - they are featuring local art by a local PWC art group - the Prince William Art Society.

PWAS has many talented artists creating art for people and businesses that love local art - and supporting those artists local to them. GoWell contacted PWAS to help decorate their new office space for that exact reason.

Fall Tall Oaks PWAS Art Show Sat, Oct 7, 2023

The Prince William Art Society (PWAS) has a handful or art shows throughout the year that are held in various locations in Prince William County, with the Tall Oaks Community Center hosting 2 of them each year. The art group also has their monthly meetings in the same location on the fourth Monday of the month, at 7:30pm. 12298 Cotton Mill Drive, Woodbridge, Virginia.

A Local Art Show in Lake Ridge

I don't know how many years the Prince William Art Society has had their Spring and their Fall Tall Oaks Art Shows at the Tall Oaks Community Center on Cotton Mill Road in Woodbridge. I wonder if anyone in the group knows? I was thinking it might be nice to say the "Tenth Annual" or the "Sixth Annual" Fall Tall Oaks Art Show was just held this past Saturday.... But I don't know the number.

Yet, we did have it, on Saturday, October 7, 2023. It started off with rain (as it has often done), then in the afternoon, POW! Big ole' sunshine and a beautiful fall day!

We had a good turn out and one of the ladies that stopped in said, "I come every year." I wondered how many years that was as I've only been a PWAS member since 2021. I took part in the Spring (usually held on the first Saturday in May...hey, like the Kentucky Derby!) and the Fall Tall Oaks Shows since then. 

Here are a few pictures of the show. The PWAS members with art up included:

Richard Tyler, Jewell Pratt Burns, Ana Quispe, Maria Briganti, Doreen Dauer, Rosemary Schatz, Mayra Itzul Torres, and I, Donna Liguria.

 

 

I've often found that participating in the PWAS art shows are great ways to really make good friends within the art community and learn more about what they do. And getting to talk to all the visitors is fun too - as well as showing them our art on display, which helps them to get to know YOU, as the artist.

A group art show also makes the work go faster as everyone pitches in to help set it up AND take it down. Funny how much quicker it always comes down.
